Nicole (Jones) Pearsall
DVM and Owner
Dr. Nicole Pearsall, originally from West Middlesex, returned back to the area in 2009 to start her own practice. Dr. Pearsall, who graduated Valedictorian from West Middlesex High School in 1998, went on and graduated Magna Cum Laude from La Roche College in Pittsburgh, PA with a B.S. in Biology and Chemistry and was the recipient of The Academic Excellence Award in the Sciences in 2003. Dr. Pearsall continued her schooling at The Purdue University of Veterinarian Medicine where she graduated with her DVM in 2007. After graduation, Dr. Pearsall worked as both a small and large animal DVM until July of 2009 when she and her husband opened Penn-Ohio Veterinary Services, which is a small animal and exotic mammal practice.
Dr. Pearsall currently serves as the Chief of Medicine, overseeing and aiding in all cases. While she no longer performs surgeries and abdominal ultrasounds directly, Dr. Pearsall dedicates her time to ensuring the highest quality of care for all patients. Outside of her professional duties, she can often be found in the barn, nurturing her precious and award-winning miniature horses.
Boomer Pearsall
Owner and Certified Practice Manager (CVPM)
Boomer, originally from New Castle, PA, returned back to Western PA to start Penn-Ohio with his wife, Nicole. Boomer graduated with Nicole at La Roche College in 2003 with a double major in Biology and Chemistry. After graduation, he furthered his studies in Biological Sciences at Duquesne University where he graduated in 2005 with his Master’s degree.
After opening the clinic, Boomer went forward and completed his certification in Veterinary Practice Management from Purdue University in 2014, which aids him in his daily tasks of being a successful Practice Manager of Penn-Ohio Veterinary Services, LLC. Boomer recently passed his board exam through the VHMA (Veterinary Hospital Managers Association) to officially become a Certified Veterinary Practice Manager (CVPM).
Outside of work, Boomer likes to live a very active lifestyle by working with his horses and also competing in Olympic weightlifting.
Dr. Kate Boatright
Associate Veterinarian
Dr. Kate Boatright has worked in small animal practice since graduating from the University of Pennsylvania in 2013. She is experienced in surgery, dentistry, preventative care, and emergency medicine and particularly enjoys feline medicine and internal medicine cases. With leadership positions in local, state, and national veterinary organizations, Dr. Boatright is a passionate advocate for the veterinary profession. She educates veterinary professionals and pet owners through articles and lectures on communication, team building, mentorship, and medical topics. She stays busy outside of the vet world running and chasing her toddler. When she gets a chance to rest you can find her reading or watching movies. She lives in Grove City with her husband, son, and 3 cats–an outgoing, complicated diabetic named Lance, his snuggly brother Gambit, and their crazy adopted sibling, Echo.
Dr. Rebecca L. Pilch
Associate Veterinarian
Rebecca L. Pilch, DVM is a 2004 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She spent her first 15 years in practice focusing solely on equine medicine and was co-owner of Freedom Run Equine Services, LLC with her sister who is also a veterinarian. She is excited to join the team at Penn-Ohio Veterinary Services.
Dr. Pilch has been married to her husband, Andy, for 15 years and has one daughter, Peyton, who is her pride and joy. Peyton keeps her busy with basketball games, softball games, and danceline performances. In her spare time, Dr. Pilch enjoys spending time with family and friends, dabbling in photography, and being active in her church. Her family is complete with 3 dogs (Tucker, Chloe, and Zoey) and 4 cats (Willow, Squirts, Gray, and Lola).
Kasie Sedgwick
Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) and Certified Veterinary Dental Technician
Kasie is a Certified Veterinary Technician from Ellwood City, PA where she has spent the majority of her life growing up and is now raising her own family.
Kasie attended and graduated from the Median School of Allied Health Careers (now known as The Vet Tech Institute) in Pittsburgh, PA in 2004 with her degree in Veterinary Technology. Kasie, a full-time technician, spends most of her time working on pets in the treatment area and managing the hospital’s inventory. When not working, she spends most of her free time with her husband, Mike, and her two kids, McKayla and Max, and their dog Fletcher.
Elisha Woods
Veterinary Technician and Certified Veterinary Dental Technician
Elisha is a Veterinary Technician that currently resides in Sharon, PA, but has spent the majority of her life growing up in Clarion, PA. Elisha graduated in 2004 from Clarion University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Environmental Geo-Science. Elisha joined the POVS team in the fall of 2010 after working in the veterinary field for four years prior. Elisha’s passion for animal care started at a very young age when she grew up and cared for both large and small animals on her father’s hobby farm. Outside of work, Elisha spends her free time either biking or with her husband, Chris, and their dog Monty. Even though it sounds like Elisha’s whole day is spent around animals, she does have time to watch and root for her beloved Steelers and Penguins with her family and friends.
Kayli Howard
Veterinary Technician
Kayli is a Veterinary Technician that currently resides in Girard, Ohio but is originally from Hermitage, Pa. She joined the POVS team in January of 2015. She graduated from Youngstown State University in 2018 with a B.S. in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. Kayli spends her free time with her boyfriend, Anthony, and their two dogs, Rocky and Squid, who are the loves of her life.
Mary Tolone
Medical Assistant
Mary has lived in the Mahoning Valley area all of her life and she joined our team in January of 2015. Most of the time you won’t see Mary because she does the behind the scene work for Dr. Pearsall. Mary is always busy with something but when she does get some downtime she enjoys spending it with her husband Jeff and their 4 dogs Charlie, Jeeter, Peanut, and Whulla Whoo.
Dana Edwards
Veterinary Assistant and Customer Service Representative
Outside of work, Dana keeps herself very busy. She also works weekends at the very popular Hubbard winery, Woodland Cellars. For actual fun and recreation, Dana loves to spend her time working in the garage and getting her hands dirty working on her Mustang.
You will see Dana mainly in the exam room assisting the Veterinarians during your pet’s physical exam; please give her a warm welcome when you see her, as she’s now often the first friendly face you’ll encounter at our front desk.
